$30 Project |
I'm Lindsay and I started to this blog in 2010 to try and pay off my credit card debt. (I finally managed it in late 2012!) I set a budget for every year. They've gone as follows: spending no more than $30 on any single clothing item, spending only a $100 per month, and budgeting $1,200 for the year that I could spend whenever I liked. I've never once broken the rules! In 2013, I have a $1,000 budget. Questions/Concerns can be addressed care of thirtydollarproject@gmail.com or tweet me! @30dollarproject for outfit updates and @LindsH for the various musings of my everyday life. |
Owl Sweater: Old Navy on sale for $15, Tee: Old Navy $5, Tweed Skirt: JCrew purchased with gift card, Booties: J.Crew $45 (phenomenal price capable with a bday gift card from Jenny!), Tights: GAP $10 in a 2 for 20 sale, Belt: Handmade from Yes Jess $14, Woven Bag: thrift store in Utah $1
Someone was bound and determined to steal the spotlight when I snapped this pic.
Marty’s been my little buddy lately since I’ve been spending so much time indoors. She’s kind of like a small, breathing hot water bottle. I plop down to read a book or watch a DVD and there she is, meowing away.
I use this color combo a lot during the winter; a palette of blue, grey and brown with maroons mixed in to keep it from being too washed out. In this case, the color replaced any accessories and I added this cute woven bag that I found for $1 in Utah.
Total cost of the outfit = $85
Remaining budget for 2013 = $832

Glasses: Beckett from Warby Parker received as a bday gift from mom & dad, Dress as Skirt: ASOS $29 on sale, Navy Sweater: GAP on sale for $26, Oxfords: Target $18, Tights: GAP $10 in a 2 for 20 sale, Bag: childhood gift from my great-aunt!, Locket: The Market NYC $30
Florals have been a big trend this winter and I support it because I hate when the springtime rolls around and everyone is all, “Florals are in!” like a.) this is some kind of new thing and b.) florals don’t exist every other day of the year.
When I was looking back on my Favorite Outfits of 2012, I realized that this dress could also be a perfectly structured skirt.
Add a sweater and some tights and suddenly you have a garment that functions for a whole different season.
Total cost of the outfit = $113
Remaining budget for 2013 = $1,000

Merry Christmas!!!

Oversized Sweater: Uniqlo $40, Legging Pants: Uniqlo $40, Necklace: Forever 21 $10, Oxfords: Target $18, Bracelet: vintage via my mom
So… maybe this outfit is just the teeniest bit lazy. Some days you just want to wear something comfortable without having to really think about it!
That doesn’t mean that Marty gets to sit on the coffee table and judge me.
I don’t need you to give me the side-eye, okay? You’re a cat. (Remember who feeds you.)
Total cost of the outfit = $108
Remaining budget for 2012 = $420

O HAI.
We’re still unpacking.
Love,
Marty
Last winter, I stayed in CT for a bit before moving to Brooklyn and Marty discovered snow for the first time.
My dad sent me this a while ago and today he wanted to know why it had not been posted to my Tumblr.
Without further ado, The $30 Project presents “Marty in the Snow” featuring my parents and a crazy kitten.
“Oh! What did you buy me?!”
Apologies for the lack of outfit posts this week. Big things have been happening that have required some late nights and early mornings. I shall return tomorrow, especially because I just saw this girl’s outfit on Broadway that I am dying to copy. In the meantime, I will post pictures of my cat.
