$30 Project |
I'm Lindsay and like most freelance writers, I'm broke! In 2010, I didn't spend more than $30 on a single clothing item for the entire year. In 2011, I kept my budget to $100 per month. In 2012, I can spend $1,200 whenever and wherever I choose. Questions/Concerns can be addressed care of thirtydollarproject@gmail.com or tweet me! @30dollarproject for outfit updates and @LindsH for the various musings of my everyday life. |
Don’t ever fix your lips like collagen, / Then say something where you end up apologin’.
OH HEY DO YOU THINK SHE GOT WORK DONE I DON’T THINK I EVER HEARD ANYONE ON THE INTERNET MENTION THAT BEFORE HOW CLEVER
seriously though I am beyond goddamn tired. I’ve seen even music critics I otherwise respect for more thoughtful and nuanced writing say what amounts to LOL FAKE BITCH w/r/t Lana Del Rey.
If you want to focus on originality and image when discussing her (though it’s really disconcerting how we focus on her when so many other acts get a pass for calculation, in a blogosphere whose preoccupations with authenticity are troubled to begin with, if I have seen one article on why she sucks ‘cause she’s all manners of fake I have seen a thousand) why don’t we take a look at the bigger picture?
You think she’s boring? That’s your prerogative and no one cares that much if you think she’s tired, weakly talented, etc. I think Panda Bear is boring, whatever. Nobody gives out prizes for not buying into a band. Or you’re convinced that a cadre of label dudes are trying to market indie as a brand now? Well, okay but hey, indie was already a brand and we can keep having the conversation about that instead but this obsession with what she put in her lips or not is REALLY. FUCKING. GROSS and you should know better
I’m not sure if this is aimed at the person who originally posted this or myself for reblogging.
I will say that I think the nature of this photo is actually poking fun at the obsession that people have with Lana Del Ray’s image and NOT with the artist herself. Which is why I reposted in the first place. It’s a clever slight about the ridiculousness of the whole issue.
I think that I’m actually on the same page as the statement above about indie being a brand etc. etc.
I am not however on board with attacking people for making a joke. Even if the attack is aimed at the original author and not myself.
You should know better. And think a little before you type.
