$30 Project |
I'm Lindsay and like most freelance writers, I'm broke! In 2010, I didn't spend more than $30 on a single clothing item for the entire year. In 2011, I kept my budget to $100 per month. In 2012, I can spend $1,200 whenever and wherever I choose. Pink Pointe Sweater: GAP $25 on sale, Black Tee: GAP $8 on sale, Legging Pants: Uniqlo $40, Booties: DSW previously owned for 5 years, Clutch: Banana Republic previously owned for 3 years
I had originally paired this new purchase with a skirt and heels, but someone asked me about date outfits the other day so it got me thinking.
This here is pretty much my perfect date ensemble for several reasons.
First and foremost, it’s comfortable. (There’s probably going to be enough awkwardness at play without you having to tug a skirt down every five seconds.) It’s not too flashy, but the color makes it pop. (While pink is a little overtly feminine for my first date taste, it is a color that works well with my skin tone.) Then the clutch and the heels add an element of fancy to show that I didn’t just throw any old thing on.
In fact, I have a “date” on Friday night and I kind of wished that I had saved this until later in the week!
Total cost of the outfit = $73
Remaining budget for the month of December = $75
