$30 Project |
I'm Lindsay and I started to this blog in 2010 to try and pay off my credit card debt. (I finally managed it in late 2012!) I set a budget for every year. They've gone as follows: spending no more than $30 on any single clothing item, spending only a $100 per month, and budgeting $1,200 for the year that I could spend whenever I liked. I've never once broken the rules! In 2013, I have a $1,000 budget. Today is a somewhat momentous occasion. Today is the day that I made my most expensive purchase in two years. Behold.
THE EMMETT ANKLE BOOTS FROM JCREW.
(The price tag of these puppies gives me an anxiety attack.)
Your blog has a funny way of changing your interactions with people. In my case, it has had the very lovely side effect of people giving me gift cards as presents and telling me to buy myself something special. And give them a credit when I wear the item, HA.
My friend Jen happens to be one such person. We’ve known each other since we were 3 years old and she remembers that for the majority of this time period, I refused to wear a dress. She knows that I often drool over the items on the JCrew website. She also knows that none of them fit into my allotted budget.
She gave me an incredibly generous gift card for my 30th bday. I have been thinking of how to spend it for nearly a month. JCrew was also running a special promo code today, so I serendipitously snagged an additional 25% off. Thus, I was able to purchase these BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL BOOTS and spend only $45 of my own money.

As another year of The $30 Project comes to a close, I have been thinking about what 2012 will hold in store for my lil’ Tumblr. I have been scheming up some plans. There’s more to come on this later, but don’t doubt that I’ll keep it going for another year.
I just might have a few shifting thoughts on basic pieces, cost per wear, and quality.
AN ENORMOUS THANK YOU TO MY FRIEND JEN WHO MADE MY DREAM OF OWNING THESE BOOTS COME TRUE! COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT HER!
