– Or, you could like, listen closer and think. It’s not that hard. I like Klosterman, but no music writer is ever anywhere near good when s/he tries to parse why others like an artist without doing the actual messy ethnographic work, or (much worse) to be a sportswriter/political wonk and predict an...
A few notes about Pinterest... and other musings.
Hi all. I really did mean to have an outfit post today, but it’s been a tough week with a lot of late nights. I’ve felt really out of balance this month, as if I can’t make all the pieces of my life fit together cohesively, and I’m hoping that the move to a new apartment (a space that is really mine again) will help alleviate some of the stress that I’ve been feeling....

If you read anything at all today, you should prioritize this article.
One of my stand-out moments from college was a revelation that I experienced (amongst many) in a Lit Crit 101 class. I was still...
pterodactyls asked: 1. How did your own personal style evolve over the past year? Aside from those truly fantastic purses, what was your favorite new piece? 2. 2011, reflection. 2012, changes.
Some of you might not know this, but the beginning of 2011 found me back home in CT with a plan to move to Boulder, CO in the spring. The Trouble with Humor
I got a little hot under the collar earlier today about Lana Del Rey. To which, I’ll admit, is a very idiotic topic to get hot under the collar about. Let me explain.
I don’t think that Del Rey has anything to apologize for, I don’t think her music is particularly terrible, and I walk into this conversation with the full understanding that her image has been heavily branded to...
Anonymous asked: Here's an (unsolicited, I know, sorry...) idea for a future post. It would be super helpful: for one of your posts where you aggregate a bunch of old outfits (a la there's more than one way to wear a yellow maxi dress, etc.) you could suggest outfits for a particular occasion! Because I always find myself randomly scrolling through your blog trying to find something appropriate for...
Some music that I have enjoyed in 2011. A (sort...
Here’s the thing, kiddos. I had lots of plans for an ambitious 2011 Year End List. I thought that I would even try and write separate posts for each of the albums, presenting little blurbs about why they had become the soundtrack to these past 12 months. Then I realized two things.
I’ve actually already spent a good deal of time writing about why these albums are important to me. To...
